Meet Shalayne Davis
Thoughtful Guidance. Clear Answers. Estate Planning Centered Around What Matters Most.
Estate planning isn’t simply about preparing legal documents.
It’s about protecting the people you love, preserving your wishes, and creating peace of mind for the future. Whether you’re planning for young children, aging parents, or your own future, these decisions deserve thoughtful guidance. At Crestbrook DexJen Estate Law, I believe every family deserves thoughtful legal guidance that is personal, approachable, and easy to understand.
Whether you’re creating your first estate plan or navigating the responsibilities of administering a loved one’s estate, my goal is simple:
To help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
My Approach
One of the things I’ve learned throughout my career is that people don’t come to an estate planning attorney because they love legal documents. They come because they love their families. They want to know their children will be cared for. They want to protect the home they’ve worked so hard to build. They want to make difficult times a little easier for the people they leave behind.
Those conversations deserve more than cookie-cutter forms or confusing legal language. They deserve an attorney who listens first. That’s why I founded Crestbrook DexJen Estate Law. I wanted to create a practice where clients feel comfortable asking questions, confident making decisions, and genuinely cared for throughout the process.

I listen First
Every family has unique goals, relationships, and concerns.
Before we talk about legal documents, I want to understand what matters most to you.

I Explain Clearly
My background in education shaped how I practice law. I break down complex concepts into plain English so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

I plan thoughtfully
An estate plan should reflect your family—not a template. Every recommendation is tailored to your goals, your circumstances, and the legacy you hope to leave.
My Story
Why I Focus on What Matters Most
I’ve always been drawn to work that helps people navigate important decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
Before becoming an attorney, I worked in business and finance, helping organizations improve systems, solve problems, and think strategically about the future. I also earned a master’s degree in education because I believe knowledge has little value unless it can be shared in a way people genuinely understand.
Today, I bring together legal knowledge, business insight, and a teacher’s mindset to provide practical guidance and compassionate support.
For me, estate planning has never been about paperwork. It’s about people- and the ones they love.
A Life Shaped by Two Places
Although I now proudly serve clients throughout Virginia, Utah will always hold a special place in my heart.
I attended Brigham Young University, where I earned both my bachelor’s degree in Business Management and my master’s degree in Learning & Technology. Many of my closest family members still call Utah home, and I continue to spend time there each year. Those lifelong connections have given me a deep appreciation for the values that matter most to so many families—faith, service, hard work, and caring for future generations.
Today, my roots span both Utah and Virginia. While my legal practice is based in Richmond, I remain closely connected to Utah through family and the community that helped shape who I am.
No matter where my clients call home, I believe the goals are often the same: protecting the people they love, preserving what they’ve worked hard to build, and creating peace of mind for the future.

Beyond the Office
A Life that Inspires the Work I Do
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring historical sites, reading, creating art, playing piano, learning languages, and finding new ways to keep learning.
Those experiences remind me that every client has a unique story—and every estate plan should reflect the life, relationships, and values that make each person unique.
